Christmas with Georg Jensen

I've noticed that we see more and more Christmas decorations these last few days... Maybe we all need a little extra cosiness these days?

Thanks to the beautiful Christmas collection of Georg Jensen I was able to try something out for the upcoming holidays. It won't surprise you that, just like the previous years, I will keep it simple when it comes to decorating... a few beautiful eyecatchers are just fine for me!

The cut-out swirl design reveals a highly polished interior whilst the matte finished outer surface is etched with an ice flower motif, bringing together both contemporary design and a love of nature.

For her 2020 Christmas Collectibles for Georg Jensen, designer Sanne Lund Traberg researched the striking photographs that Karl Blossfeldt took of flowers in the early 20th century. Loving the way they referenced both a Scandinavian appreciation of nature but also Art Nouveau imagery, she came up with designs that have a similar attitude but with a contemporary touch. The decorations are sure to become part of many a Christmas collection.

Bringing the ephemeral beauty of the natural winter world into the home, the stunning 18 karat gold plated Christmas ornaments are to become one of the most treasured in any family’s collection of decorations. Depicting an abstracted Dianthus flower caught in ice, the cut-outs give a graphic and contemporary quality whilst at the same time referencing the Art Nouveau period that is a large part of the heritage of Georg Jensen.
