For several years, IKEA has worked with social entrepreneurs and created a better everyday life with the opportunity for long-term jobs and support for vulnerable groups. For the LOKALT collection, IKEA contacted designers in Jordan, Thailand and India and together with social companies created LOKALT - a modern traditional craft inspired by local traditions - IKEA

The IKEA Lokalt collection is the result of a collaboration with contemporary local designers from Amman, Delhi, Bangkok and IKEA's own designers. It is a collection of handmade textiles and ceramics where local traditions meet traditional crafts, made by social entrepreneurs in Jordan, Thailand and India. Each pillowcase, rug, basket and bowl helps to strengthen equality, inclusion and livelihood in the regions where it is needed most.

Lokalt is a collection of modern and expressive traditional craftsmanship. It is full of interesting details that tell stories from the places where the products are actually made. The ceramics - definitely my favorites of this collection - are a tribute to the Thai way of serving food, there are glimpses of everyday life in Amman in the textiles and expressive shapes inspired by the Indian heritage in pillowcases and rugs, says Maria O'Brian, creative director at IKEA of Sweden. What is your favorite item of this collection? - Elvera

Lokalt is a temporary collection and will be available June 2021
