Chairlove - Lean Lounge

This month Studio HENK has launched two new designs: the Lean Lounge and the Column Table. These new products are part of the Bold Beginnings campaign of this Dutch design brand. The name of the campaign refers to both an outspoken design language and the choices the brand makes to minimize its impact on the environment.

I was attracted immediately by the Lean Lounge when I saw it for the first time. I just love its stunning elegant design but also the compact size of the chair makes it an attractive item for any type of home, even if you live in a smaller house like me. Studio Henk says that it’s perhaps one of their most striking designs. The pronounced, but simple design language gives this lounge chair a modern, no-nonsense feeling. The supportive bolster cushion, a recurring element in the Studio HENK collections, provides the perfect angle to relax.

Studio HENK started as a family business in 2013 and it still represents the values that have been important from the start: quality and sustainability. The brand is on a mission to create a collection for the future. As an exciting next step in their sustainability journey they’ve recently introduced more sustainable fabrics for their upholstered products.

The new fabrics have their unique characteristics. One of them - Camira Oceanic-  is made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, including 50% seaqual yarn. Seaqual combats marine plastic pollution, which is a problem of unimaginable proportions. Each yard of Oceanic is made from 26 plastic bottles. Choosing this fabric helps fight waste, which fits our Studio HENK mission for a zero-waste furniture industry.

At the website of Studio Henk you will find an inspiring interview where Corine, Head of Sustainability tells more about the new fabrics and the values driving this exciting new range as we head towards becoming a zero-waste brand - Elvera
