Graphic designer Jeroen is a fan of designers who work with the wonder materials of the 20th century, such as plastic, plywood and concrete. In his new-build home he brings them all together and combines them with contemporary street art, cacti and lots of music.

A man-sized two-headed monster stands next to the front door and shows the way to the front door unmoved. Jeroen has been living here with his family for five years, but he already bought the lot ten years earlier. "I wasn't in a hurry to build," he explains. Jeroen has his own graphic agency, Atelier Turtle. “I enjoy working a lot. My life and work are so intertwined that my house must radiate the same openness.

Living room and kitchen are located in one open space. The resident Jeroen and architect Jan Cloetens designed the design of the kitchen, bulthaup executed it. Jeroen opted for American walnut, but deliberately did not let the drawing of the wood continue to make the whole not look too heavy.

While for his work - artwork for international fashion brands - everything according to the latest trends - Jeroen loves timelessness at home. He has a large vintage collection, with an exceptional number of pieces by Charles and Ray Eames, and is inspired by American, European and even Asian architecture from the 50s and 60s. The concrete seats are a design by Jeroen. They were meant to be put on the grass in the garden, but there their weight dropped. Now they are in place on the terrace.

Concrete of all types, floor, ceiling, wall: everything is concrete. Jeroen: “Almost all types of finishes were used here: polished and unpolished, bare and waxed, with a wood structure below, smooth above. Concrete is not cold and chilly, it sympathizes with the seasons, with the hours of the day, with the dryness of the air. ”
